Best taxi service in and around Marrakech. Drives responsible and not too fast. And the prices are fair. If you want to arrange a trip, they can also do it cheaper than the normal tour companies, you can find on the internet.

Tour Overview

Cross the spine of the High Atlas and step into the cinematic landscapes of southern Morocco on this unforgettable Aït Benhaddou day trip. In a single, action-packed day you will traverse one of the world's most dramatic mountain roads, wander through a thousand-year-old fortified village that has starred in Hollywood epics, and explore the desert film capital of Ouarzazate. It is a journey through history, cinema and breathtaking scenery, all within easy reach of Marrakech. Your day starts early with a comfortable pickup from your accommodation, as you set off south toward the mighty Tizi n'Tichka pass. At 2,260 metres, this is the highest major mountain road in North Africa, and the drive is a spectacle in itself — hairpin bends, plunging valleys, terraced Berber villages clinging to the slopes, and ever-expanding views of the rugged Atlas range. Your guide will pause at the finest viewpoints so you can breathe the mountain air and capture the panorama. The undisputed star of the day is the UNESCO World Heritage ksar of Aït Benhaddou, one of the most beautiful and best-preserved fortified villages in all of Morocco. Rising from the riverbank in tiers of rose-gold mudbrick, its towers and ramparts seem to grow organically from the earth itself. As you cross the riverbed and climb through its narrow, shaded alleys, your guide will reveal its layered history as a caravan stop on the ancient trans-Saharan trade route, its ingenious earthen architecture, and the Berber families who still live within its walls. Film lovers will be thrilled: this is one of cinema's most iconic locations. The ksar and its surroundings have featured in Gladiator, Lawrence of Arabia, The Mummy, Game of Thrones (as the city of Yunkai), and countless other productions. From the granary at the summit, you will enjoy a sweeping panorama of the palm groves, the river, and the desert beyond — an unforgettable photo opportunity and a moment to appreciate this UNESCO kasbah Morocco treasure in full. Next, you continue to Ouarzazate, the gateway to the Sahara and the beating heart of Morocco's film industry, often called the 'Hollywood of Africa'. Here, an Ouarzazate film studios tour takes you behind the scenes at the legendary Atlas Studios, one of the largest film studios in the world. Wander among the surviving sets and props from major international productions — Egyptian temples, Roman arenas, Tibetan monasteries — and discover how this desert town became a global filmmaking destination. Key highlights of your day include the UNESCO World Heritage ksar of Aït Benhaddou; the famous Gladiator and Game of Thrones filming locations; the behind-the-scenes Atlas Film Studios tour; the spectacular Tizi n'Tichka mountain road; glimpses of the rose-growing valleys and palm oases; and the chance to browse authentic local crafts. You will also visit the historic Taourirt Kasbah in Ouarzazate, a labyrinthine former residence of the Glaoui dynasty, with its intricate decorated rooms and commanding position. After a satisfying day of exploration and a relaxed local lunch, you will begin the scenic return journey to Marrakech, recrossing the Atlas as the late-afternoon light turns the peaks to amber and gold. You will arrive back in the city in the evening, your camera full and your imagination fired by the southern landscapes. This Aït Benhaddou day trip is fully guided and includes round-trip transfers in a comfortable air-conditioned vehicle, making it the perfect way to experience two of Morocco's greatest cultural landmarks in a single day. Whether you are a history enthusiast, a film buff, or simply a lover of dramatic scenery, this excursion delivers in spades. Book your UNESCO kasbah Morocco adventure today.
